Chief Technical Adviser for REDD plus

REDD Cell under the Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation is implementing REDD readiness activities in Nepal. In this connection, the REDD cell would like to get consulting service of Chief Technical Adviser (CTA) to help guide day-to-day implementation of the program, ensuring that the implementation truly serves to catalyze the national REDD process and builds national capacity for REDD plus. Applications are invited from any national/foreign individuals having at least Masters Degree or equivalent in natural sciences/natural resource management, economics or a development-related discipline with sufficient knowledge, technical background and experience in forest inventories, forest mapping and remote sensing, geographic information systems and spatial data management, and scientific methods for carbon measurement and accounting with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in development, including at least 5 years of experience in project/programme management. The applicant should possesses international experience in the field of expertise and should have a good understanding of ongoing climate change negotiations and on the challenge of the forest sector in developing countries and sound experience on REDD plus, especially developing reference scenario and Monitoring, Reporting and Verification System. The CTA shall work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Chief of the REDD Cell. The CTA will be based in REDD Cell, Kathmandu. Total duration of the consulting service will be for 3 months divided in three phases with one month duration per phase (The first phase at the beginning, second around January/February 2012 and last on November/December 2012) spread over 18 months between September 2011–December 2012.
